The ADAS Offshore Supervisor course covers activities and competencies required for the training and accreditation of dive supervisors who are required to supervise diving work safely and competently offshore, either on Air or Helium and using a Diving Bell (wet or closed). There are four separate qualifications under the offshore supervisors qualification scheme, two of which are trainee qualifications:
- Trainee Offshore Air Supervisor
- Trainee Offshore Air & Bell Supervisor
- Offshore Air Supervisor
- Offshore Air and Bell Supervisor
To become a fully qualified (non-trainee) Offshore Air Supervisor or Offshore Air & Bell Supervisor, you will need to complete further supervised on-the-job training and undertake a final theory assessment. More information can be found on the ADAS website.
- Find offshore diving work as a trainee supervisor and superintendent
- Prepare you for the IMCA Offshore Supervisor Exam
ADAS Part 3 or Part 4 ticket
- Students must hold a commercial diving certificate that is to the level that you are attempting to gain your supervisor ticket in (this must be ADAS or international equivalent such as HSE, DCBC etc). For Offshore Air Supervisor course, you will need to hold an ADAS (or equivalent) Part 3 ticket, and for Offshore Air & Bell Supervisor course, you will need to hold an ADAS (or equivalent) Part 4 ticket.
Employer / Supervisor Endorsement
- You must be recommended by your employer as being suitably mature, experienced and competent (there is a separate form letter for this that we will provide with enrolment documents).
Logged Dives
- Trainee Offshore Supervisor Air: Completion of at least 100 offshore commercial dives. Up to 40 of these dives may be onshore, provided these dives were run under offshore conditions including full air spread with a recompression chamber on site.
- Trainee Offshore Supervisor Air & Bell: Completion of at least 400 lockout hours. For students already qualified as an Offshore Air Supervisor, they must also have been qualified for two years and supervised at least 100 offshore air dives.
ADAS SSBA to 50m Supervisor Modules
- Students must have successfully completed the ADAS SSBA to 50m supervisor modules.
Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Oxygen Resuscitation certificates or Diver Medic Technician (DMT) with Advanced Oxygen Resuscitation completed in the last 12 months.
- To meet the AS/NZS 2299.1 and ADAS requirements anyone who joins a course at CDA, or any other ADAS school is required to have a current first aid, 02 provider and CPR certification.
- In general, if the card has First Aid on it, and the course was about a day long, it is likely this will be accepted. Though if you are not sure if your First Aid ticket is accepted, you can contact us any time to find out.
- If you are completing your First Aid, CPR or O2 course in Australia, you can check if the units are acceptable by checking this table.
