Embark on a transformative journey with the ADAS & ADCI Combo Course, a streamlined pathway to becoming a fully qualified commercial diver. This all-encompassing 12-week program integrates the ADAS Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 courses, offering an unparalleled depth of training that propels you from the fundamentals of occupational scuba diving to the advanced techniques required for complex offshore operations.
Why Choose the Combo Course?
- Enhanced Training: Receive an additional 50% more hands-on training compared to the Part 2 course alone, ensuring a robust, comprehensive and refined skill set when embarking on your first job.
- Immediate Offshore Qualification: Graduate as an offshore diver ready to plunge into international assignments at a moments notice right out of school.
- Cost Efficiency: Benefit from significant savings with our combo discount, making this an economically smart choice over completing the levels separately.
ADAS Part 1 (SCUBA to 30m): Establish a strong foundation in SCUBA diving with bailout cylinders and full-face masks. The theoretical training focuses on safety, physiology, basic physics, technical drawing, observational skills, emergency, and medical training. This segment is limited to environments where there is direct access to the surface. It includes tasks such as full-face mask orientation and emergency drills, standby diver rescue drills, underwater communications, searches, surveys & photography, night dives and light construction/hand tool tasks.
ADAS Part 2 (SSBA to 30m): Build upon the skills acquired in Part 1. This course introduces the use of Surface Supplied Breathing Apparatus (SSBA) for underwater construction activities. Divers will learn to use a wide variety of construction tools, including welding and cutting equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, salvage equipment, air and water dredging equipment, construction tools, and non-destructive testing.
ADAS Part 3 & ADCI SSA Diver (SSBA to 50m): Extends the scope of training to a maximum depth of 50 meters using SSBA. This course significantly enhances a diver’s ability to operate in complex working situations, preparing them for offshore industry operations. You will be introduced to hyperbaric chamber operations, hot water suits and wet bells.
By completing the 12-week ADAS & ADCI Part 1, 2 & 3 Combo Course, divers will be fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience required to operate safely and effectively as commercial divers at various depths and in diverse underwater environments. This comprehensive training ensures that you are prepared to meet the demands of both onshore and offshore diving industries.
- Work with SCUBA to 30m or SSBA to 50m
- Gain advanced skills required to be a commercial diver
- Operate chambers and complete decompression dives
- Find offshore work as a commercial diver / underwater welder
- Work in salvage on offshore wrecked ships

The ADAS Part 1, 2 & 3 combo course for air diving to 50 metres, is an internationally recognised qualification which is also recognised by the International Marine Contractor’s Association (IMCA). This course is for aspirational divers who do not want to spend their career onshore on fish farms or living contract to contract as an onshore civil diver.
The ADAS Part 3 course is for the diver looking to become an underwater welder, salvage diver or just someone who wants to have the option to make big dollars when the chance arises. The ticket will allow you to work in any country in the world and on any dive site if the depth is under 50 metres. Divers will also learn to be hyperbaric chamber operators during the course. Finally, the course is for those crazy enough to dare to become saturation divers as you must hold your ADAS Part 3 ticket for at least one year before enrolling on this course.
At least 18 years old
- Divers must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of training.
Recreational Diving Certificate
- Hold a recognised certificate of recreational diving competence (e.g. an open water sports diver qualification from a recognised SCUBA training organization, or a certificate as a military diver) and demonstrate logged evidence of at least 10 dives undertaken since receiving certification and within 6 months of commencing the ADAS training course
Current Commercial Dive Medical
- Before we can allow anyone to dive, they must hold an occupational dive medical compliant to the Australian Standard (AS) 2299.1.
- The doctor who assesses you for medical fitness is required to be trained in hyperbaric medicine and certified as an occupational diving doctor.
- You can find dive doctors using the SPUMS website: https://www.spums.org.au/
Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Oxygen Resuscitation certificates
- To meet the AS/NZS 2299.1 and ADAS requirements anyone who joins a course at CDA, or any other ADAS school is required to have a current first aid, 02 provider and CPR certification.
- In general if the card has First Aid on it, and the course was about a day long, it is likely this will be accepted. Though if you are not sure if your First Aid ticket is accepted, you can contact us any time to find out.
- If you are completing your First Aid, CPR or O2 course in Australia, you can check if the units are acceptable by checking this table.
