The onshore supervisor course covers activities and competencies required for the training and accreditation of dive supervisors who are required to supervise diving work safely and competently using either scuba to 30 metres, or surface supplied breathing equipment to depths down to 50 metres. There are four separate qualifications under the onshore supervisors qualification scheme, and a trainee certificaion:

  • Occupational Dive Supervisor to 30 Metres on air using SCUBA (Part One)
  • Aquaculture SSBA to 30 metres
  • Occupational Dive Supervisor to 30 metres on air using SSBA (Part Two)
  • Occupational Dive Supervisor to 50 metres on air using SSBA (Part Three)
  • Trainee onshore Supervisor to the level of training and certificate you hold.

This course results in the partial completion of the following Vocational Education and Training (VET)qualification: Diploma of Hyperbaric Operations (Diving supervision) National Qualification Code: 11038NAT.

  • Find onshore Supervisor work in Australia
  • Civil onshore up to 50m
  • Aquaculture diving up to 50m
  • Learn from Offshore trained supervisors

It is required in Australia and New Zealand that all occupational diving operations are supervised and trained in the type of diving operation being conducted and holding a current supervisors certificate and are therefore crucial in any onshore diving project. As a qualified ADAS onshore supervisor there are a range of opportunities that are available, ranging from Aquaculture (Fish farming), Aquarium work, Onshore Construction, etc. CDA Prides itself on its 100% Employment rate since 2018, and will help in any way it can to aid in the employment process of a graduated student.

ADAS Part One, Two or Three ticket

  • Students must hold a commercial diving certificate that is to the level that you are attempting to gain your supervisor ticket in (This must be ADAS or international equivalent such as HSE, DCBC etc).

Employer / Supervisor Endorsement

  • You must be recommended by your employer as being suitably mature, experienced and competent (there is a separate form letter for this that we will provide with enrolment documents).

100 Logged Dives

  • Each level has a set number of logged SCUBA or SSBA dives and bottom time requirements that you must have logged over at least 12 months.

Current Commercial Dive Medical

  • It is not essential to hold a current dive medical if you are completing the Supervisor course, but we need students to dive to give others the experience of Supervising. If you cannot provide a medical, please let CDA know.
  • Before we can allow anyone to dive, they must hold an occupational dive medical compliant to the Australian Standard (AS) 2299.1.
  • The doctor who assesses you for medical fitness is required to be trained in hyperbaric medicine and certified as an occupational diving doctor.
  • You can find dive doctors using the SPUMS website: https://www.spums.org.au/

Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Oxygen Resuscitation certificates or Diver Medic Technician (DMT) with Advanced Oxygen Resuscitation completed in the last 12 months.

  • To meet the AS/NZS 2299.1 and ADAS requirements anyone who joins a course at CDA, or any other ADAS school is required to have a current first aid, 02 provider and CPR certification.
  • In general, if the card has First Aid on it, and the course was about a day long, it is likely this will be accepted. Though if you are not sure if your First Aid ticket is accepted, you can contact us any time to find out.
  • If you are completing your First Aid, CPR or O2 course in Australia, you can check if the units are acceptable by checking this table.
